We are so excited to bring you our first reader-submitted nostalgic playlist! This week’s submission is from Jessica over at The Domestic Musician. We’ve connected through the wonder of the world wide web, and the minute we stumbled upon this post of hers, we knew we’d met a kindred spirit!
As a music teacher, Jessica loves music, and although she had a plethora of nostalgic songs to pick from, she decided to choose 3 songs that make her relive her teenage years. These songs take us back, too! How about you?

3 Songs that Make Me Relive My Teenage Years | The Domestic Musician
I was a teenager of the 90’s. They just don’t make music now like they used to. There are so many songs that bring me back to those special teen years, but here are 3 of my favorites.
1) Bye Bye Bye – *NSYNC (2000)
Ok, what teenage girl in the 90’s wasn’t slightly obsessed with *NSYNC? Please tell me I’m not the only one. I swear I have every single one of their songs memorized and may or may not get funny stares from my husband when I sing their music. When I hear “Bye Bye Bye”, it makes me think of driving in the car with my friends and doing the motions while we’re cruising down the road. But, honestly, every *NSYNC song was listened to in the car at all times.
2) My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It) – En Vogue (1992)
This memory is one that makes me laugh. My sister got En Vogue’s CD for her birthday and I was beyond jealous. There are some great memories of us jamming out with hair brushes as microphones and our mom asking us to turn the music down. This is one of those songs that we played on repeat over, and over, and over and still never got tired of it. When I hear “My Lovin'” come on the radio today, it puts a big smile on my face thinking back to those fun times we had.
3) The Sign – Ace of Base (1993)
This is one of those songs I remember being at a junior high dance and swaying to the music (our version of dancing). The words to “The Sign” honestly never made very much sense to me, but we all felt super cool singing right along in a group.

Like I said, there are so many songs that bring me back, but these are 3 of the best memories I cherish.

hehe so true!
I remember all of these songs vividly from my childhood. I will now have “The Sign” stuck in my head all day lolol
It’s just one of those songs that’s just so dang catchy… 🙂
Wow that definitely brought back some memories there. I want to say I was in 8th grade when Nsyncs Bye Bye Bye song came out. I don’t know if you remember but I think it was Mcdonalds that had the portable MP3 players with the Nsync songs (granted it only played the chorus) I remember taking mines to school and jamming to “It’s gonna be me!” To think that we don’t really use MP3s anymore is crazy!!! Have a great week!
-Luna 🙂
Ha! Yes, I remember my little MP3 players I had before my first iPod!
It doesn’t matter where I am or what I am doing. When *NSYNC comes on, I just have to sing along! Windows down in the car, radio blasting and not caring who sees me!
Love that you don’t care who sees you! Great music does that 🙂
Oh my goodness! Such a great throwback! *NSYNC will be in my heart forever haha & you are right – they don’t make music like they used to! Thanks for sharing!
Boy bands were the best!
Oh, my gosh..”(I Saw) The Sign” is running through my mind, now…and, it won’t be going anywhere any time soon 🙂 This is a fantastic post…thanks for sharing 🙂
Is it still playing in your head? We’ve had it in ours ever since Jessica shared her list 🙂
By the time I saw you comment, it was morning…and, the song started all over again. haha
Sorry about that 😉
Anything N*Synce brings back memories. I was in love with Justin Timberlake!! I met Chis before at a event that was held for his failed clothing line lol
Justin Timberlake is still so talented! Who knew he’d become so successful 🙂
I discovered dance music in the 90’s, which were my my teenage years too! 🙂 My 3 would be:
Gat Decor – Passion
The Beloved – Sweet Harmony
Opus 3 – It’s A Fine Day
Going to have to check these out! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Oh wow, I chuckled out loud reading this. Those were some of my favorites back in the day too haha!!
Ha! Yes, ours too!
Oh man, I hate “The Sign!” I have memories of this one, too.
Anything N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, Boys II Men… YES!!! Love this post:)
They all remind me of my senior prom!
I love this! Music and scent always take me back in time. I just love that. “Shoop” reminds me of my teenage years! Ha!
Ohhh emmmm geee! Yes!! These songs are so fun!
