You’ll never run out of things to say about music. Or nostalgia.
If they haven’t written every song there is to write about love and love lost and lost love and also entire continents (Africa, by Toto) and being spun like a record (baby), well, chances are they never will.
Nostalgia has just as many flavors as does music.
I know this, because I could have compiled a five-songs post for every emotion and every emotion in the margin of every emotion. From emo to zany. Instead, I relied on the random nature of the universe (and Pandora) to deliver to me songs that moved something inside.
Here are the five that did, and the emotions (and memories, and of course, the nostalgia) they evoked when I heard them: Continue reading “Sweet Nostalgia: 5 Songs That Move Me Still | Eli @ Coach Daddy”
It’s hard for me to believe, but my daughter Zoey turns 6 today. Because it seems like it was just yesterday she was an infant, taking her first steps and saying her first words, and then I blinked, and there she was, a bona fide little person, one who likes to try on makeup, takes care of me when I’m sick, and knows all the lyrics to her favorite songs. Time certainly does fly…
So in honor of her birthday today, it seemed only appropriate to share a playlist to designed to help someone celebrate their special day, no matter how old they may be or how many candles sit on top of their cake. For a lot of us, our teenage years are some of our most formative. They are the years where we really start growing into ourselves—we begin to develop our own tastes, discover the things we really love, and make special memories that end up lasting a lifetime. And although some of the memories we make during those years are better than others (because let’s face it, these years often are some of our most awkward, too), no matter our experiences, we all seem to have fond ones of the music that carried us through them. Yolanda from Inspire and Wander brings us our Music Monday post today, where she relives her own teenage days through the music she loved during those years, music that she shares with her own teenage son today. Enjoy!

And today’s reader-submitted nostalgic playlist, 6 Songs That Take Me Back to My Middle School Years by Andrea at Moonlight Sweetness, is sure to make you nostalgic for those fun, exciting, and—admittedly—sometimes painful middle school years. “Everyone jump upon the Peace Train,
Come on, come on, come on…” – Cat Stevens
April is all about peace and acceptance and over here at The Nostalgia Diaries (and Corey’s Everyday Nostalgia post yesterday told you about her journey to make peace with where she is in her life, and a week ago she wrote about finding peace in being enough). So today we decided that we should put together a Music Monday post of artists who have crafted songs about harmony, tranquility, happiness, and love. In a word:
Peace. Continue reading “Jump on the Peace Train: 11 Songs About Peace”
