46 Songs to Start Your Day Off Right | Music Monday Playlist

We think it’s probably a universal problem: you have a great weekend and then Monday rolls around. Getting out of bed seems to take a little bit longer than usual, and you find yourself thinking, “Man, I wish I had an extra day!” or “How did that go so fast?”

And sometimes on those days (and let’s be honest, this problem might happen every day, no matter what part of the week it is), you need a little something “extra” to help get you going. So we took it upon ourselves here at the Nostalgia Diaries to put together a Music Monday playlist that might just help with those slow-moving mornings when getting out from under those covers seems just a little too hard. What Do I Know?

The other day I received a sweet text message from a friend:

“This song reminded me of you and your blog. So happy and great!”

The song? One of Ed Sheeran’s newest releases, What Do I Know?

I’ve been a huge fan of Ed’s music for years, so I excitedly clicked that YouTube link. And, just like my friend said, the song is great.  It’s happy.

And yes. It reminds me of my blog, too.

This super-catchy tune embodies so many of the things that the Nostalgia Diaries is all about: happiness, love, positive vibes—and of course—good music.

All the lyrics are fantastic, but these in particular spoke to me:

I’ll paint the picture, let me set the scene
I know when I have children they will know what it means
And I’ll pass on these things my family’s given to me
Just love and understanding, positivity

So what do I know? I know that, just when I think I can’t love his music more, Ed Sheeran keeps releasing awesome gems like this one, and I fall in love a little bit more. (I have a feeling that’s part of Ed’s master plan…)

So since we love passing things down here on the blog, we decided to pass this song on to you today. We think it’s the perfect way to kick off the weekend. Hope it’s filled with happiness, love, positive vibes, and good music!

At the Nostalgia Diaries, our goal is to help you simplify, enhance, and engage your lives by focusing on the most important things: remembering, appreciating, believing, and becoming. It’s all about celebrating the past to create better days today.

We’d love for you to join us in this journey.

P.S. Don’t forget to follow our colorful, creative spaces on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest. We’re fun and happy and whimsical and nostalgic over there, too. Pinky swear.

ABBA Fans Rejoice On Music Monday!

“Without a song or a dance what are we?” – ABBA

Mamma Mia!  Talk about celebrating the past to create better days today! Swedish supergroup ABBA is planning to reunite in 2018 for live shows that “will utilize the very latest in digital and virtual reality technology.”

Benny Andersson of the group clearly understands the importance of nostalgia in connecting with fans today and in the future. He said of the new project: “We’re inspired by the limitless possibilities of what the future holds and are loving being a part of creating something new and dramatic here. A time machine that captures the essence of who we were and are.

You can sign me up for a ride in that time machine, Benny!

(And speaking of things Swedish, remember this?)

The Times They Are A Changin’

Guitar - The Times They Are A Changin' - Nostalgia Diaries

Earlier this month, Bob Dylan, one of the most successful, well-known, and celebrated musiciansif not somewhat controversialin our history, won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature. Dylan is the first musician to receive the award, and his selection sparked many discussions on whether or not he truly deserved the prize due to the fact that he is a songwriter instead of an author.

All debates aside, there is no question that Dylan is a masterful storyteller. The messages and lessons that his music communicates transcend time and are ones to which we can instantly relate, no matter the generation we grew up in. Regardless of age, we are all bound to know a song or two by him. We’re sure you’ve probably familiar with some of his most famous tunes, like The Times They Are A Changin’ or Like a Rolling Stone.
